Serving our community since 1915
The Aronos Research Club is dedicated to fostering community engagement and promoting education. Our mission is to support charitable activities that enrich the lives of residents in Tuolumne County.
We're proud members of the California Federation of Women's Clubs and the General Federation of Women's Clubs.
The Aronos Research Club was founded in 1915 by a dedicated group of women from Tuolumne County. Originally meeting in private homes, the club purchased a historic 1902 building from the Baptist Church in 1936, where we continue our traditions today. Go to "Rental" for more information on how to rent building.
Contra Dances have been held at the Aronos Clubhouse in Sonora for over 30 years. Join us every third Saturday from 7–9 PM for an evening of live music, dancing, and community fun. No partner or experience needed — a caller will teach and guide each dance, and the live Contra Band has been playing together for decades.
Often called a Contra or Barn Dance, this lively form of American folk dancing is perfect for all ages. It’s informal, social, and a great way to meet new people while getting some light exercise.
A donation of $10 (youth are free), will help maintain the clubhouse and keep the tradition going. Organized by Sue Endter and Wayne Mullen. Everyone is welcome — come dance with us!
Mark your calendar for August 16, Sept. 20, and October 18 or every third Saturday of the month!
